Facts And
Questions
What is the sliding scale?
The sliding scale is a payment option where clients facing financial limitations can receive counseling services at a reduced rate.
Why is it important?
At Kenyatta Black Counseling, we are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to mental health services, regardless of their financial situation. Offering a sliding scale helps us fulfill this commitment.
How do I qualify for the sliding scale?
The sliding scale is available to clients whose income falls below the federal poverty line. Please refer to the sliding scale table below to determine your eligibility. Rest assured, no client will be turned away due to an inability to pay. While there are limited sliding scale slots, we strive to accommodate as many families as possible.
How do I verify my income for eligibility?
To qualify for the sliding scale, you will need to complete a sliding scale application and submit income verification, which can include:
● A copy of your previous year’s 1040 tax form
● Two months of recent pay stubs
● Two unemployment stubs
● A copy of your Social Security or disability check
● A letter from your employer confirming your salary or wage
● A profit and loss statement (if self-employed)
What if I do not want to provide income verification?
If you choose not to provide income verification, your family will not qualify for the sliding scale. We are required by law to collect certain details for reporting purposes.
What if I can’t afford the full fee?
No one will be denied services due to their inability to pay. We offer discounted fees based on your family size and income. If you need further assistance, please reach out to us to discuss your options.
